Online financial literacy programme being piloted at Ikhala currently. #SecureTheBag, from the ASISA Foundation, is designed for TVET students. This fully-funded, online programme launched 11 August and runs for 6 weeks until 22 September. Ikhala is among just five TVET colleges across South Africa selected to participate in the pilot.
The programme seeks to:
- Empower students with essential work readiness, digital and life skills.
- Reduce financial stress and equip students with the tools to better manage their money (including NSFAS).
- Enable learning anywhere, anytime from any smartphone - without any data! (the platform is zero-rated)
- Reward students with weekly and overall prizes throughout the programme (the more you learn, the better your chances!)
#SecureTheBag is changing lives through financial literacy education. But we want to change as many lives as possible - now and in the future! We want to extend this programme to ALL TVET students next year, but to do that, this 6-week pilot programme has to succeed. For that we need at least 400 students from Ikhala to register by 1 September.
