URGENT REQUEST TO COMPLETE SASTEP STUDENT SURVEY ALL STUDENTS

Dear Student,
As part of a Canadian Cooperation initiative with your college and the South African Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), the South Africa Skills Training Enhancement Program (SASTEP) has been in execution over the last two years to improve many services within your college and ensure a successful completion of your studies and your employment. As we are midway into the life of our program, a midline evaluation and data collection is required by the Canadian Government and DHET. In this context, you are invited to take part in a short and confidential survey that will allow us to confirm preliminary progress and areas of improvement. Your opinion is important to us.
  • Duration: approximately 15–20 minutes
  • Your responses to this survey will be kept confidential and will only be used by CICan/SASTEP for future learning and improvement of the program.
  • Link:  https://enketo.ona.io/single/2AU5ZEHY
  • Please complete by: 04 September 2026
Please complete the survey on your own. Your honest answers will help us understand what is working well and what needs to be improved.

Online financial literacy programme being piloted at Ikhala currently. #SecureTheBag, from the ASISA Foundation, is designed for TVET students. This fully-funded, online programme launched 11 August and runs for 6 weeks until 22 September. Ikhala is among just five TVET colleges across South Africa selected to participate in the pilot.

The programme seeks to:

  • Empower students with essential work readiness, digital and life skills.
  • Reduce financial stress and equip students with the tools to better manage their money (including NSFAS).
  • Enable learning anywhere, anytime from any smartphone - without any data! (the platform is zero-rated)
  • Reward students with weekly and overall prizes throughout the programme (the more you learn, the better your chances!)
#SecureTheBag is changing lives through financial literacy education. But we want to change as many lives as possible - now and in the future! We want to extend this programme to ALL TVET students next year, but to do that, this 6-week pilot programme has to succeed. For that we need at least 400 students from Ikhala to register by 1 September.
